Sandwich Secondary will be celebrating World Kindness Day on Wednesday November 10th, 2010.
World Kindness Day is celebrated on November 13th of each year and was first introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Organization. It is a day that encourages individuals to overlook boundaries, race and religion while focusing on the commonalities we share with one another so as to one day achieve peaceful coexistence.
To encourage kindness in our school, SGA members will be giving out Random Acts of Kindness cards to all students during period one on Wednesday. These cards are meant to encourage individuals to perform a simple act of kindness for someone they know or perhaps don’t know and hand the card over to that person inspiring him/her to do the same. The goal is to have the cards circulate numerous times throughout the day as students and staff perform random acts of kindness! (Think of the movie, Pay it Forward).
Please encourage everyone you know to participate in Random Acts of Kindness!!
Simple Ideas for Random Acts of Kindness:
Buy someone a coffee or a donut
Hold the door open for someone carrying a heavy load
Give someone a compliment
Let someone ahead of you in the cafeteria line
Hug a friend
Say hi to someone you don’t know; make a new friend
Buy lunch for a friend
Help someone with their homework
Write a note to a friend, colleague or teacher letting them know how much you mean to them
Bring treats to give away to classmates
Give someone a flower
Lend someone a pen/pencil
Help a teacher clean up the classroom
Do something nice for your bus driver
Do something kind that someone will not expect!!!
Last but not least, try to keep the Random Acts of Kindness going after school and do something nice for your parents, neighbours, and friends!
